Austrian Emissions Allowances Act (EZG)

Austrian Emissions Allowances Act with regard to the emissions trading system to reduce greenhouse gas effects

Batch radar

A measuring system that maps the topography of the input material (batch) in the blast furnace by using radar sensors and temperature measurement; it reports the data to process management in real time.

BTEX

Acronym for the volatile, aromatic hydrocarbons benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylene.

L rule: (legal requirement): The rule is based on mandatory statutory provisions

Funnel & Gate System

A funnel & gate system consists of a cut-off or containment wall (funnel) that conducts groundwater flows through the activated carbon vessels (gates) that are integrated into the cut-off wall. Due to its large specific surface, activated carbon has the capability of adsorbing contaminants in the groundwater and attaching them onto the surfaces of the activated carbon.

HBI/DRI technology

Direct reduction of iron ore by means of reduction gas; the product is direct reduced iron (DRI) or hot briketted iron (HBI).

The amount of certain substances that are introduced into wastewater or air, aggregated over the course of the year.
