Operating expenses for environmental protection systems

For many years, voestalpine has been consistently advancing the application of high environmental and environmental technology standards. This is also reflected in the environmental expenditure and investment indicators. In the business year 2017/18, environmental investment amounted to EUR 40 million and the ongoing costs of operations for environmental systems came to EUR 258 million.

At around 50%, the greatest percentage of environmental expenditures in the business year 2017/18 was spent on air purification measures and the purchase of CO2 certificates as part of the EU emissions trading system. Around a quarter of the expenses went towards waste recycling, reuse and disposal, and 20% for water protection measures.
