While research expenditures have grown continually in recent years, they fell to EUR 153 million in the reporting period due to short time work and other cost savings measures during the COVID-19 pandemic. At EUR 189 million, the research budget for the business year 2021/22 already exceeds that of previous years, thus reflecting the high priority given to R&D in the Group.
